Cat's Eye Remake Manga Ending This Month
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Cat's Ai (Cat's Eye), the manga remake of Tsukasa Hōjō's classic caper manga, will end in the March issue of Tokuma Shoten's Monthly Comic Zenon magazine on January 25. Hojo has been collaborating with Shin Asai (art) and Sakura Nakameguro (scenario) on the series since the magazine launched in 2010. The seventh compiled volume shipped in Japan in November.
The story follows the three beautiful sisters Rui, Hitomi, and Ai, who run a café during the day and then act as art thieves at night to try to find their father who has disappeared. The original manga ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1981 to 1985. The first manga inspired a television anime series, a live-action television special, a live-action film, and stage play. The first 36-episode season aired between 1983-1984, and the second 37-episode season aired from 1984-1985.
ImaginAsian Entertainment previously released Cat's Eye on subtitled-only DVD in 2007 and Right Stuf licensed the series last year.
