3rd Super Robot Wars Z PS3/Vita Game Revealed

Game featuring robots from Evangelion, Macross Frontier, Dai-Guard, Gigantor, Code Geass to ship in April 2014

Namco Bandai Games revealed on Tuesday that B.B. Studio Works is developing a third Super Robot Taisen Z game, titled Dai-3-ji Super Robot Taisen Z Jigoku-hen. The game is slated to ship on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita on April 10, 2014.

Namco Bandai Games announced the game during a livestream event on Tuesday. The livestream revealed that this will be the "final chapter" in the Super Robot Taisen Z series.

The video reveals that the game will feature robots and characters from the following anime titles:

  • Muteki Robo Trider G7
  • Tetsujin 28 (Gigantor)
  • Rokushin Gattai God Mars
  • Armored Trooper VOTOMS
  • Armored Trooper Votoms: Big Battle
  • Armored Trooper Votoms: The Heretic Saint
  • The Super Dimension Century Orguss
  • Mobile Suit Z Gundam
  • Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack
  • Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz
  • Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie: A Wakening of the Trailblazer
  • Mobile Suit Gundam UC
  • Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny
  • Aim for the Top! Gunbuster
  • Macross 7
  • Macross Dynamite 7
  • Macross Frontier: Itsuwari no Utahime
  • Macross Frontier: Sayonara no Tsubasa
  • Getter Robo: Armageddon
  • Shin Mazinger Shōgeki! Z-Hen

The game will retail for 8,070 yen (about US$77) on the PS3 and 7,120 yen (US$68) on the PS Vita.

Namco Bandai Games had teased that the Super Robot Wars video game and anime franchise would get an important announcement during the livestream. Voice actors Hikaru Midorikawa (Masaki Ando) and Yūichi Nakamura (Joshua Radcliffe), and series chief producer Takanobu Terada hosted the livestream event.

The previous game in the series, Dai-2-ji Super Robot Taisen Z Saisei-Hen, shipped in Japan on the PSP on April 5, 2012. That game featured robots and characters from more than 40 robot series.
