Silver Spoon Manga Wins Japan Food Culture Contents Award

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries announced the winners of the first Japan Food Culture Contents Award on Tuesday. The Ministry honored the winners in a ceremony in Tokyo on Sunday.
The Ministry created the awards to recognize achievements of anime and manga in spreading awareness of Japanese food culture. The selection committee chose the winners from a pool of around 250 nominated or self-nominated works. The committee chose the the winners based on five criteria: cultural relevance, originality, novelty, story and reach.
