Cartoon Art Professional Society Raises Money for Usagi Yojimbo's Stan Sakai
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The Cartoon Art Professional Society (CAPS) is planning to host an art auction where all of the proceeds will go to Usagi Yojimbo creator Stan Sakai. Sakai's wife Sharon is currently battling a debilitating illness that has included a long hospital stay with a long recuperation. Sharon is currently at home, but needs constant medical care and medication that is not covered by their insurance.
CAPS is looking for cartoonists and comic book artists to contribute original artwork for the auction. Those interested can send their artwork to CAPS.
Additionally, Garage Art Studios is also working with CAPS to allow those interested to donate to the Sakais directly via PayPal.
Stan Sakai, a Japanese-American, has been drawing the Usagi Yojimbo comic series for almost 30 years. Most recently, Sakai has also collaborated with Dark Horse Comics president and founder Mike Richardson and Lone Wolf and Cub creator Kazuo Koike to create the 47 Ronin comic.
