Miyazaki's Post-Retirement Samurai Manga to Run in Model Graphix
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
The samurai manga that Studio Ghibli founder and retired anime director Hayao Miyazaki is currently drawing will be published in Model Graphix magazine. Miyazaki is aiming for at least eight pages in the first chapter before Model Graphix runs it, but he has completed only three pages so far.
Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki reported this month that Miyazaki was working on a manga after he announced his retirement from feature films. Miyazaki was then shown working on the manga on NHK's Professional Shigoto no Ryūgi (Professional Work Style) program last week.
Miyazaki said that he wants to draw sengoku (Japan's Warring States Period) stories and other stories that cannot be cubbyholed.
