Kill La Kill Tops PS3's Torne DVR Rankings in Tokyo

Sony announced last week that Kill la Kill topped the rankings for most recorded television anime between September 30 and November 2 in Tokyo on Torne, the digital video recorder kit for the PlayStation 3 console in Japan. The popularity of the series had increased over the course of the broadcast, putting the show in first place by the end of October. The first episode garnered about 11,600 "tor" recordings, and the fifth episode notched about 12,700 "tors."

Kill la Kill reunited several production staff members from Gurren Lagann: director Hiroyuki Imaishi, series script supervisor/writer Kazuki Nakashima, character designer Sushio (key animator/animation director on Gurren Lagann), and the animation Studio Trigger (co-founded by several former Gurren Lagann staffers).
