The 2,389th issue of Nihonbungeisha's Weekly Manga Goraku magazine published the final chapter in Youichi Takahashi's soccer manga Hokori -Pride- on Friday.
The story follows the J. League Division 2 soccer team Hakodate Troopers as each player showcases his pride. Some strive for a come-back, others want to go out in a blaze of glory. With undeniable feelings in their hearts, the players chase the ball.
The series debuted in 2011, and the third compiled volume will ship in Japan on November 18. Takahashi recently announced that he will open the "Manga Academy Tsubasa Juku" school in the Football Plaza building of Tokyo's Hatchōbori neighborhood on December 18. (A juku is a cram school or additional classes held after regular school.) The manga school will include four course levels.
Takahashi's Captain Tsubasa soccer manga inspired a television anime series and sequels, four anime films, an original anime video series, and several manga sequels.
The same issue of Weekly Manga Goraku also published the final chapter of Tsuru Moriyama's Bonkura sake manga.
