The official website for the Majocco Shimai no Yoyo to Nene anime film began streaming the second trailer in three lengths on Friday.
The "traditional magical fantasy" from the anime studio ufotable (Fate/Zero, Kara no Kyōkai - the Garden of sinners, Tales of Symphonia the Animation) and King Records' Starchild label (Penguindrum, Bodacious Space Pirates) follows sisters who are magical girls. Yoyo and Nene live in a forest where they run a famous store for magic spells, and the two are quite skilled despite being young, but for some reason they always cause an uproar.
Sumire Morohoshi and Ai Kakuma are leading the cast as the great Picture Book Level witch Yoyo and the best Practice Book Level witch Nene, respectively.
The rest of the cast includes:
Miyuki Sawashiro as Takahiro, a straightforward elementary school boy
Takahiro is a resident of the world Yoyo wanders into. He is bewildered by the magical events unfolding before his eyes and is suspicious of Yoyo's claim of being a witch.

Takeo asks for Yoyo's assistance after his parents are suddenly turned into monsters.

Takahiro's family takes care of Aki because her parents are busy with work. She is a stubborn girl who opens her heart to Yoyo.

Nils is the grandson of a hero who once saved the world. He longs for Nene and serves as a soldier for Sword Country, which neighbors Yoyo and Nene's Magic Country. He was afflicted by a curse during the last war. Nene accidentally turned him into a frog.

Bihaku serves as Yoyo and Nene's bodyguard. He wandered into Takahiro's world with Yoyo.

Kirōchō fought to protect his forest during a great war 3,000 years ago. Now he has completely changed into a good-natured old man.

Oyone is the strongest witch in the world and one of only three colossal witches. She is the sisters' grandmother who uses moonlight to achieve eternal youth.

Oyomi can revive people who were unable to live out there lifespans due to certain circumstances. She is the younger twin sister to Oyone as well as Bihaku's original owner.

Takayuki Hirao (Gyo, Futakoi Alternative) is directing the film, and Yuka Shibata (Kimi ni Todoke, Hiyokoi) is handling the character designs and serving as chief animation director. Takuro Takahashi (The Garden of Sinners, Gyo) is serving as assistant director, and Mikako Komatsu (Bodacious Space Pirates, K) will perform the film's theme song. Shiina is scoring the film's music.
The film is slated to open in Japan on December 28.
