Meiji Tokyo Renka Romance Game Gets Anime Project
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Voice actor Shinnosuke Tachibana revealed on his blog on Sunday that an anime project based on Broccoli's Meiji Tokyo Renka visual novel game is currently in progress. Broccoli had made the announcement at a "Meiji Tokyo Renka ~Haikara Roman Gekijō 2~" event in Tokyo on the same day.
Broccoli held the event to commemorate the release of the PlayStation Portable otome game (romance simulation game for female players), which shipped in Japan on September 26. Illustrator Karu designed the characters for the game.
The centers on Mei Ayazuki, a girl who time-travels to the Meiji era, where she meets and falls in love with various great historical figures from that time period. The game stars Toshiyuki Morikawa as Charlie, Daisuke Namikawa as Ōgai Mori, KENN as Shunsō Hishida, Kōsuke Toriumi as Otojirō Kawakami, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Kyōka Izumi, Jun Fukuyama as Gorō Fujita, and Shinnosuke Tachibana as Yakumo Koizumi.
The event also revealed that the game is getting a sequel, and Broccoli will release a character song CD as well.
