posted on by Egan Loo
The Japanese telecommunications company SoftBank and its game subsidiary Gungho Online Entertaiment (Ragnarok Online, Grandia Online, Hokuto no Ken Online, Lily Bergamo) announced on Tuesday that they will acquire a 51% stake in the Helsinki-based mobile gaming company Supercell for US$1.53 billion. Supercell has had much success in the United States and worldwide with such titles Clash of Clans, while Gungho has not translated the success of its Japanese mobile games (such as Puzzle & Dragons and Freak Tower) in the American market.
Clash of Clans and Puzzle & Dragons created a series of crossover features earlier this year.
