Tokyo's Metropolitan Police Department arrested Tomoyuki Shima, the 46-year-old Editor-in-Chief of Shueisha's Young Jump magazine, for allegedly attacking a taxi driver and not paying his fare on Wednesday.
According to the police, the suspect got out of the taxi near his home at 3:20 a.m. on Wednesday. When the 66-year-old male driver asked for his fare, the suspect allegedly grabbed the driver's arm, uttered, "I'll kill you," and other words, and left without paying the 710-yen (about US$7) fare.
The suspect was reportedly drunk at the time, and told the first-responders on the scene that he paid the fare. The driver was not injured.
When Shima was an editor at Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, he was in charge of the popular manga Slam Dunk.
