Jee-woon Kim's proposed live-action adaptation of the 1999 anime film Jin-Roh won the highest prize in South Korea's Busan Film Festival's Asian Project Market Awards on Thursday. The Busan Award includes a US$20,000 cash prize.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, CJ Entertainment is expected to fund the project. The South Korean company also awarded the US$10,000 CJ Entertainment Award to Benito Bautista's Phillipine film Samuel Over the Rainbow at the festival.

Kim said in an interview that Screen International magazine published in January that his "next project is most likely going to be a Korean film – a remake of Mamoru Oshii's Jin-Roh that takes place in Korea." Osen reported in December that Kim was "under consideration" for the adaptation, although the film has not yet been green-lit.

Kim's other films include The Good, The Bad, The Weird, I Saw the Devil, and his Hollywood debut The Last Stand.
