Designer Masakazu Katsura makes voice-acting debut; USG performs "Harmonized Finale"

Sunrise announced new details regarding the second Tiger & Bunny film, Tiger & Bunny The Movie -The Rising-, at the "Tiger & Bunny The Movie -The Rising- Super Prelude" event in Chiba on Saturday. Kōji Yusa, the voice of Lunatic, was the announcer for the event which included appearances from Hiroaki Hirata, Masakazu Morita, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Gō Inoue, Kenjiro Tsuda, Mariya Ise, Minako Kotobuki, Taiten Kusunoki, and new cast member Yūichi Nakamura. Character designer Masakazu Katsura (Zetman, Video Girl Ai, DNA²) also appeared to introduce the new designs and outfits for the characters in the movie. The outfits will have new advertising from a total of 21 sponsors.

Hiroaki Hirata revealed that Katsura will be making his voice-acting debut in a cameo for the new movie. The event also featured a live performance from Unison Square Garden. The group performed their new single "Harmonized Finale," which will be used as the ending theme for the movie.

A trailer that was streamed at the event also revealed that Lunatic (voiced by Kōji Yusa) and Kaede Kaburagi (voiced by Rina Hidaka) will also appear in the movie as well as a cast of new villains.

Earlier details regarding the film were announced in July. It was then that Sunrise revealed the new Hero character, Golden Ryan, who will be voiced by Yūichi Nakamura. Golden Ryan will serve as Barnaby Brooks Jr.'s new partner, and he is described as a very rough, self-centered character with a bad personality. The film will revolve around a mystery that happens on the day of the "Justice Day" festival that celebrates Sternbild's legendary goddess.

The film will again star Hiroaki Hirata as Kotetsu T. Kaburagi and Masakazu Morita as Barnaby Brooks Jr. The television series scriptwriter Masafumi Nishida is again writing the screenplay and serving as story director, while Yoshitomo Yonetani is directing the film.

The film was originally scheduled to open this fall but has been delayed until February 8, 2014.

Viz Media announced at its New York Comic Con panel on Friday that it has licensed the Tiger & Bunny The Movie -The Rising- film, and plans to screen the film theatrically in North America within the same month that the film opens in Japan. The company noted it will reveal a final list of theaters that will screen the film at a later date. Viz had mentioned in April that it was still in talks with Sunrise for the film.

Viz had screened the first film in the series, Tiger & Bunny the Movie: The Beginning, at New People Cinema in San Francisco in September 2012, one week after the film opened in Japan. The company then released the film on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on October 1 after streaming the film's English dub on Neon Alley.
