Valve Previews Steam Machine's Controller
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Valve unveiled the controller for its Steam Machine game console on Friday. The controller is wireless with two trackpads on either side of a touchscreen. The trackpads and touchscreen are "clickable" and the controller also includes 16 traditional buttons.
The controller will ship with Valve's Steam Machine console, but Valve said the controller will work with "any version of Steam." The consoles are slated for retail in 2014 with different models by multiple manufacturers.
Valve will also ship 300 console prototypes with the Steam Operating System to beta testers. Valve will be testing its own console "designed for users who want the most control possible over their hardware. Other boxes will optimize for size, price, quietness, or other factors."
