Live-Action Judge Film's Trailer Streamed
posted on by Karen Ressler
The official website for the live-action film adaptation of Yoshiki Tonogai's psychological suspense manga Judge began streaming a trailer for the film on Wednesday. The trailer feature's the film's theme song "Wake Myself Again" by MAN WITH A MISSION.
In the story of the original manga, nine young strangers wake up and find themselves wearing animal masks in a shuttered old courtroom. They are accused of sins, and must judge and sacrifice each other one by one, until four are left alive. They must all play the game, or they will all die.
The film will include only seven characters — one for each of The Seven Deadly Sins. Kōji Seto (live-action Moshidora, Sadako 3D) will play the wolf, Kasumi Arimura (live-action Hagane no Onna, Clover) will play the lion, and Jirō Satō (live-action Gokusen, Densha Otoko, Meshi Bana Deka Tachibana) will play the fox. Additionally, Kazuyoshi Taira will play the bear, Fukino Kawate will play the pig, Sōtarō Tanaka (Kibō no Koku) will play the dog, and Yūko Nishimaru (Salaryman Kintaro ) will play the rabbit. Yō Kohatsu (Waya!, Seichi e, Chokujou se yo!) will direct the film, and Kawate and Kohatsu are handling the script.
Tonogai launched this manga in Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine in 2010 after finishing Doubt, another psychological horror manga that Yen Press finished publishing last month. Judge ended in Japan last August, and Square Enix published the sixth compiled book volume in Japan last November. North American publisher Yen Press released the first Judge manga volume for US$12.99 on August 20.
The live-action Judge film is scheduled to open in Japanese theaters on November 8.
