Music producer Lantis began streaming the teaser video for the second series of the Aikatsu! idol school television anime on Saturday. The video introduces first season characters Ichigo Hoshimiya, Aoi Kiriya, Ran Shibuki, Otome Arisugawa, YURiKA Tōdō, Sakura Kitaōji, Kaede Ichinose, and Mizuki Kanzaki, as well as their idol group, STAR☆ANIS.
The teaser also reveals designs for two new characters from the rival school Dream Academy: Seira Otoshiro and Kii Saegusa.
Namco Bandai Games also began streaming a teaser promotional video for the second Aikatsu! Nintendo 3DS game on Saturday. Aikatsu! Futari no My Princess (Aikatsu! The Two Princesses) will be released on November 21 and includes new characters from the second season.
The new anime will once again feature Starlight Academy, which is facing a predicament thanks to the rise of the new rival idol training school, Dream Academy. The Dream Academy's "cool beauty" Seira Otoshiro (voiced by Kaori Ishihara) is a major new idol with talent in rock music and perfect pitch, while Kii Saekusa (Chuna) is a genius who enrolls in the academy's producer course. The two academies face off for the honor of training the top idol.
Ryuichi Kimura is returning to direct at the anime studio Sunrise. STAR☆ANIS is once again performing the new opening theme song "KIRA☆Power" and the new ending theme song "Original Star☆Me."
Bandai announced the orginal idol-themed card game and its anime adaptation last July. Sunrise is producing the first television anime, which premiered in Japan last October on TV Tokyo. The story revolves around Ichigo, who was just a normal middle school student until she suddenly got involved in the world of idols.
The series will premiere in October.
