The Toronto International Film Festival posted a subtitled trailer on Wednesday for Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's newest film The Wind Rises. The festival previously announced that it will host the North American premiere as part of its programming next month.
The Wind Rises opened in Japan on July 20, and the film earned 961 million yen (about US$9.66 million) to top Japan's box office for the weekend. The film centers on Jirō Horikoshi (played by Evangelion director Hideaki Anno), the designer of Japan's famed Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter plane of World War II. The film is also screening at the Venice International Film Festival, which will be held from August 28-September 7.
The Toronto International Film Festival will reveal its scheduling details for the September 5-15 event in Toronto, Ontario on August 20.
