Shikatsushi - Joō no Hōigaku Josei Manga Gets Live-Action Special

This year's 17th issue of Kodansha's Be Love magazine announced on Monday that Aki Morino's Shikatsushi - Joō no Hōigaku josei manga will be adapted into a one-episode live-action drama special. The special will air on Friday, September 29 from 9:00 to 10:52 p.m. JST on the Fuji TV channel. Singer and actress Nao Matsushita and KANJANI 8 idol and actor You Yokoyama will lead the cast as Yuki Kiriyama and Hajime Inugai, respectively.
The cast also includes:
- Jun Hashimoto as Shinji Ibata
- Takashi Yamanaka as Tatsuya Masaki
- Masuyo Iwamoto as Hatsue Kasai
- Morio Kazama as Minori Shirokida
- Yutaka Matsushige as Ei Murakami
The original manga revolves around forensic doctor Yuki Kiriyama, a smart but strange teacher at a medical university who wears no makeup and has frizzy hair. Hajime Inugai, a fourth-year at the medical university, comes to work under her. However, he finds that he can hear the voices of the corpses that he is investigating, and learns the truth about each of their deaths.
The manga has been running on an irregular schedule in Be Love since 2010, and Kodansha published the sixth compiled book volume on Monday. The 19th issue of Be Love will run the latest manga installment on September 14, just before the special premieres. The issue will also have an account of the special's filming by Morino.
