Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine began streaming the first episode of the Saiki Kusuo no Psi Nan flash anime adaptation on Sunday. The 16-minute episode, "Chōnōryokusha to Baka to Shikkoku no Tsubasa" (The Psychic, the Idiot, and Jet-Black Wing), is based on Shūichi Asō's gag-comedy manga about a high school boy named Kasuo Saiki. He possesses supernatural powers that cause unfortunate events in his everyday life.
The episode begins with a PK Academy second-year student named Jun Kaidō (the "Jet-Black Wing" in the title). He introduces himself as the one person who stands in the way of an evil secret society named Dark Reunion. As it turns out, he is actually a sufferer of chūnibyō (adolescent delusions of grandeur).
One of his classmates, Kusuo Saiki (the "psychic"), really has supernatural powers, but no one at the academy knows. However, there are some people whose minds he cannot read, and one of them is his classmate, the delinquent Riki Nendō (the "idiot"). The story picks up when a snake has the misfortune of crossing paths with their class.
Subsequent episodes will be delivered via the Shonen Jump LIVE mobile platform. Aso launched the manga series in Weekly Shonen Jump last year after drawing one-shot versions of the story in Weekly Shonen Jump and Jump Next magazines the year before.
