The September issue of Shueisha's Saikyō Jump magazine is publishing the last chapter of Hiroshi Wakamatsu's Ginga e Kickoff!! (Kickoff to the Galaxy!!) soccer manga on Sunday.
The manga is an adaptation of the 2012 anime television series of the same name, which adapts the 2006 soccer novel Ginga no World Cup (Galactic World Cup) by Hiroto Kawabata. The anime premiered last year in April on NHK General, the main television channel of Japan's public broadcaster, and ended its broadcast in March. The story follows a boy who was in a soccer team, but it was disbanded due to not enough players. However, after the boy meets a female professional soccer player, he aims to bring his soccer team back.
Wakamatsu's manga adaptation of the anime has been running in the magazine since last April. The second compiled volume of the manga was released in Japan in February.
