The August issue of Square Enix's Gangan Joker magazine is revealing on Monday that the Akame ga KILL! prequel manga Akame ga KILL! ZERO will debut in the 11th issue of Monthly Big Gangan magazine on October 25. Akame ga KILL! manga author Takahiro is providing the story, while Kei Toru (Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin, Master Cross, Rokka no Yūsha) will illustrate the manga.
The promotional image features the tagline "From killing a few, we believed happiness would be born." The "dark action" story will take place a few years before the events in the original fantasy series. The prequel will center on the title character Akame, a girl bought, brainwashed, and raised by the Empire as an assassin.
Takahiro's original manga with art by Tetsuya Tashiro debuted in Gangan Joker in 2010. Square Enix will publish the eighth compiled book volume on Monday. Takahiro, who is also an adult game creator, has also worked on Majikoi - Oh! Samurai Girls, Tsuyo-kiss, 15 Bishōjo Hyōryūki, and Kimi ga Aruji de Shitsuji ga Ore de.
