Deen Animates Meganebu Show About Glasses-Wearing Boys
posted on by Rae First
The official website for the Meganebu! anime opened on Wednesday and confirmed that Studio DEEN will be animating the project about a group of "ikemegane" (handsome eyeglasses-wearing) high school boys. Independent director Soubi Yamamoto (This Boy Can Fight Aliens!, This Boy Caught a Merman) is making her television anime directorial debut with Meganebu!, Atsuko Nakajima (Hakuōki, Ranma ½) is designing the characters, and Deco Akao (Bakugan: Mechtanium Surge) is supervising the series scripts.
The Niconico Live service will stream an unveiling of the anime production on July 12 at 7:30 p.m. (6:30 a.m. EDT). (Niconico's page for the event is not viewable outside Japan.) The anime's "Megane-bu" (literally, Eyeglasses Club) cast will appear at the Niconico Live event.
The anime was announced last month and is based off a drama CD series starring Shinnosuke Tachibana, Takahiro Mizushima, Takashi Kondou, Masakazu Morita, Daisuke Namikawa, and Gō Inoue.
The television anime will premiere this October.
