Totoro Ranks on Oricon's DVD Charts for 600th Week

The DVD of Studio Ghibli's 1988 film My Neighbor Totoro ranked at #55 on Oricon's DVD ranking chart for the June 17-23 week, marking the 600th week that the work has appeared in the ranking. The anime DVD sold 801 copies during that period, for a total of about 11.9 million copies sold to date.
The DVD debuted on the chart eleven years and nine months ago when it was released in September 2001. Since Oricon began ranking DVD sales in 1999, this is the first time that a film, anime, or music DVD has appeared in the ranking for 600 weeks.
Studio Ghibli works complete the list of top five DVDs that have ranked in Oricon's DVD charts for the most weeks. The remaining four records are as follows: Kiki's Delivery Service at 546 weeks, Castle in the Sky at 535 weeks, Spirited Away at 411 weeks, and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind at 372 weeks.
