Manga creator Yoshiji Yamaguchi (Examurai Sengoku) ended his Fist of the North Star spinoff manga series Kinyoku no Garuda - Nanto Goshasei Zenshi (The Gold Wings of Garuda ~The Prehistory of the Nanto Goshasei~) in the August issue of Tokuma Shoten's Comic Zenon magazine on Tuesday.
The manga centers on the new character Garuda, whose name comes from the mythical bird creature from Hindu and Buddhist mythology. Garuda practices the "Nanto Shintori Ken" style of martial arts. In the manga Garuda will fight the five members of the Nanto Goshasei style, impress Rihaku, and provide a chance for Kenshirō and Yuria to unite.
Yamaguchi began the spinoff manga in Comic Zenon last February in celebration of the Fist of the North Star's 30th anniversary. Also as a part of the 30th anniversary celebrations, a new television anime adaptation of Kaijo's DD Fist of the North Star manga has been is currently airing. Fruits Basket's Akitarō Daichi is directing that anime.
Buronson and Tetsuo Hara's original post-apocalyptic fighting manga ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1983-1988.
