Shogakukan's Gagaga Bunko imprint confirmed on Tuesday that the anime adaptation of Koroku Inumura's Toaru Hikūshi e no Koiuta (A Love Song to a Certain Airship Pilot) light novel series will premiere on television this fall. The imprint briefly listed a Fall release date last month.
The 2009-2011 five-volume light novel series is set in the same world as Inumura's To Aru Hikūshi e no Tsuioku (Recollection of a Certain Airship Pilot/The Princess and the Pilot) novel and anime film, although it is set earlier with a different cast of characters.
The Princess and the Pilot film's main staff is not returning for the Toaru Hikūshi e no Koiuta anime. Toshimasa Suzuki (Lagrange - The Flower of Rin-ne, Dance in the Vampire Bund, Heroic Age) is directing the anime off scripts supervised by Shinichi Inotsume (The Unlimited - Hyōbu Kyōsuke, Hayate the Combat Butler, Ristorante Paradiso). Hiroki Harada (Sasami-san@Ganbaranai, Romeo × Juliet, Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal) is designing the characters.
