Bakuman, Bakemonogatari, Last Exile Released Monday

On Monday June 17, Manga Entertainment will release the first 25-part TV season of Bakuman. (pictured right) on DVD. According to an announcement by Manga in September 2012, the release will be subtitled only. The anime is based on a manga by the co-creators of Death Note - writer Tsugumi Ohba and artist Takeshi Obata.
According to the Fetch PR website: "Top student Akito is willing to do anything to become a hit writer in the Japanese comics industry, including manipulating his unsure classmate Mashiro into becoming his illustrator. Before long, the pair have their backs up against the wall, fighting for a chance to get noticed in the intense world of manga publishing. But then, an unlikely series of events puts them face-to-face with what real comic artists have to give up: love, health, and maybe even their futures."
MVM is releasing the first eight episodes of Bakemonogatari (pictured left). The anime series adapts NisiOisin's Bakemonogatari light novels. The short stories in NisiOisin's two volumes of Bakemonogatari deal with a high school boy named Koyomi Araragi and strange students he encounters. ("Bakemonogatari" is a wordplay on the Japanese term bakemono for supernatural creatures and the term monogatari for stories.)
Finally, Manga Entertainment is releasing the 2003 aerial adventure series Last Exile, made by Studio Gonzo. In a world that resembles the 19th century (but with anti-gravity devices), youngsters Claus and Lavie are pilot and co-pilot of a plane and act as couriers. They become involved with a mysterious mission after rescuing a little girl from a strange star-shaped machine. The 26-part series was previously released in the UK on ADV. Its sequel, Last Exile -Fam, The Silver Wing-, will make its UK debut (on both DVD and Blu-ray) in September.
