Naruto Tops Graphic Novels in U.S. Bookstores in May
posted on by Karen Ressler
The 61st volume of Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto manga ranked #1 on Nielsen BookScan's list of top 20 graphic novels in American bookstores for May. The 60th volume in the series ranked #17 on the list this month, at #7 in April, at #3 in March, and at #1 in February. The fifth Naruto 3-in-1 edition also made the list at #18.
The Naruto volumes were three of eight manga titles on the list. Naoko Takeuchi's Sailor Moon volumes 11 and 10 landed at #4 and #10 respectively. (Volume 10 was #4 last month.) Kanoko Sakurakouji's Black Bird volume 16, Yana Toboso's Black Butler volume 13, and Nozomu Tamaki's Dance in the Vampire Bund volume 14 ranked #9, #12, and #14 respectively.
The BookScan rankings represent sales at Barnes & Noble and other book chains, independent bookshops, and online purchases — but not sales at comic book stores, Walmart, and some other venues.
