Takashi Miike in Talks to Direct English-Language Debut With Tom Hardy

Prolific director Takashi Miike (Ichi the Killer, Yatterman, Crows Zero, Ace Attorney, Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai) is negotiating to direct The Outsider, his first English-language film starring actor Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises, Inception). Andrew Baldwin wrote the script based on the original concept by producer John Linson (Lords of Dogtown, Fight Club, Sons of Anarchy television series). Joel Silver, Andrew Rona, and Steve Richards are also attached as producers.
The story follows an American soldier who joins the Yakuza after fighting in World War II. If the project moves forward, filming will begin in Japan next year.
