AnimeFest to Host Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. Director Kenji Kamiyama

The organizers of AnimeFest 2013 announced on Tuesday that Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and 009 Re:Cyborg director Kenji Kamiyama will appear as a guest of honor at this year's convention.
Kamiyama was part of the original team who created the Blood: The Last Vampire anime film. He later served as the writer and director for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, its sequels Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG, and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society. He also wrote and directed Moribito: Guardian of the Sacred Spirit and Eden of the East before starting on his first full CGI anime film 009 Re:Cyborg. The film premiered in Japan last year had has since screened in Ireland and England. Madman Entertainment will show the film in theaters in New Zealand and Australian this summer.
AnimeFest will also host producer Tomohiko Ishii. Ishii began working as an assistant producer at Studio Ghibli in 1999 where he collaborated on Spirited Away, The Cat Returns, Tales from Earthsea, and Howl's Moving Castle. He joined Production I.G in 2006 and worked with Kamiyama on Eden of the East, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society, and 009 Re:Cyborg.
AnimeFest 2013 will run from August 30 to September 2 at the Sheraton Hotel in Dallas, Texas.
