posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Soshite Chichi ni Naru (Like Father, Like Son), Kore-eda Hirokazu's film about babies switched at birth, won the Jury Prize at Cannes on Sunday. The film received a standing ovation at its screening.
Kore-eda previously screened his manga-based live-action Kūki Ningyō (Air Doll) film as part of the festival's Official Selection in 2009. The Wara no TATE (Shield of Straw) film by Takashi Miike (Yatterman, Crows Zero, Ace Attorney) was also shown as part of this year's selection at Cannes with mixed reviews, including some booing from the audience.
Soshite Chichi ni Naru will open theaters in Japan on October 6.
