ComiXology Pulls 56 Comics From Its iOS App Due to Content

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The digital comic and manga publisher Comixology pulled 56 comics from its iOS app to adhere to Apple's guidelines on adult and inappropriate content. The comics are no longer available directly from the app but can still be purchased from Comixology.com. Five of the volumes are from Digital Manga Publishing, but they are available on iOS in several formats after a purchase on DMP's emanga site as well:

Comixology previously pulled Saga #12 by K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples but later added it to its iOS app after rumors that Apple banned the issue.

Apple began enforcing stricter standards on sexual content in 2010, leading to censorship of the underground comics app Comix Classix: Underground Comics, as well as rejection of 30% of Kodansha's e-manga titles.
