Chihayafuru Manga to Bundle Original Anime DVD

Japanese publisher Kodansha has announced that the 22nd volume of Yuki Suetsugu's Chihayafuru manga will bundle an original anime DVD when it ships on September 13. The bundled set will cost 3,675 yen (US$36.10). Pre-orders for the set are available now and the deadline to pre-order is July 24. The tagline on the announcement notes that the bundled DVD will contain a new episode "of the bittersweet school drama that can only be seen here!"
Suetsugu's manga follows a schoolgirl named Chihaya who competes in the Japanese card game of karuta. The manga inspired a 25-episode television anime season from October 2011 to March 2012, and the second season of the series premiered in Japan on January 11. Crunchyroll streamed the first season as it aired and is currently streaming the second season outside of Japan.
