Tonogai's Suspense Manga Judge Gets Live-Action Film

posted on by Egan Loo
Psychological story about 9 strangers who must sacrifice each other for alleged sins

The June issue of Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine is announcing on Saturday that a live-action film adaptation of Yoshiki Tonogai's psychological suspense manga Judge has been green-lit for this fall.

In the story, nine young strangers wake up and find themselves wearing animal masks in a shuttered old courtroom. They are accused of sins, and must judge and sacrifice each other one by one, until four are left alive. They must all play the game, or they will all die.

Tonogai launched this manga in Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine in 2010 after finishing Doubt, another psychological horror manga that Yen Press began publishing last month. Judge ended in Japan last August, and Square Enix published the sixth compiled book volume in Japan last November. North American publisher Yen Press will release the first Judge manga volume for US$12.99 this August.
