Newspaper: YouTube to Announce Paid Subscriptions This Week

The Financial Times reported on Sunday that YouTube may officially announce a paid subscription plan as early as this week.

The Variety entertainment trade magazine reported on Monday that YouTube will launch "several dozen special-interest subscription-video channels" in the following 10 countries: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Korea, France, Spain, Russia, and Brazil. According to Variety, the new channels will focus on topics like movies and niche sports and will cost around US$1.99 to US$2.99 per month
