posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Takara Tomy's upcoming Transformers Go! toy line is inspiring a new Japanese anime. More details about the anime will be revealed in the July issues of Shogakukan's Terebi-kun (TV-kun) magazine and Kodansha's TV Magazine on June 1.
Takara Tomy is launching the Transformers Go! toy line this month. The line begins with eight Transformers: G11 Hunter Optimus Prime, G12 Dragotron (Predaking in English), G13 Hunter Shockwave, G14 Hunter Bumblebee, G15 Hunter Bulkhead, G16 Hunter Wheeljack, G17 Hunter Starscream, and G18 Hunter Soundwave.
These eight initial characters also appear or will appear in Hasbro's American Transformers toy line and the American computer-animated television series Transformers Prime, which began airing in Japan last April. However, according to its flyer, the new anime for Transformers Go! will be unique to Japan. The flyer and the later product waves in Japan's Transformers Go! line also feature characters that are exclusive to Japan.
Previous Japanese Transformers anime include: Transformers: Scramble City, Transformers: The Headmasters, Transformers: Super God Masterforce, Transformers: Victory, Transformers: Zone, Beast Wars II Chō Seimeitai Transformers, Chō Seimeitai Transformers: Beast Wars Neo, Transformers: Beast Wars II: The Movie, and Transformers: Car Robots (Transformers: Robots in Disguise). Several formerly Japan-exclusive titles have eventually been released in North America.
