Miyakawa-ke no Kūfuku Anime to be Bundled with Manga
posted on by Joanne Mertz
The anime adaptation of Kagami Yoshimizu's Lucky Star spinoff manga Miyakawa-ke no Kūfuku (The Miyakawa Family's Hunger) will be bundled on a DVD with the 10th volume of the original Lucky Star manga series on October 26. The limited-edition 10th volume set costs 4,200 yen (about US$42) and commemorates the 10-year anniversary of the Lucky Star series. The deadline to reserve the set is August 5.
The official website for the anime adaptation announced the staff and cast at the end of March. Many of the lead roles are being voiced by new talent, but four Lucky Star cast members are also reprising their roles. Yutaka Yamamoto or "Yamakan" (Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens, episodes of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Lucky Star) is directing the anime at his studio Ordet and Encourage Films
The original manga is based on the Lucky Star Moe Drill game series and centers around big sister Hinata Miyakawa and little sister Hikage Miyakawa's impoverished daily life at home (due to Hinata's wasteful habits) and Hikage's life at elementary school.
The anime will begin streaming on the Ustream service on April 29 at 9:00 p.m. in Japan. A Miyakawa-ke no Chara Come Radio show will also premiere on Ustream on April 15 at 9:00 p.m. The anime's official website previews the character designs and features a new color four-panel manga marking the release of the anime.
