Ghibli's Poppy Hill Earns US$115,006 in 3rd Weekend

The Box Office Mojo website reports that Goro Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's From Up On Poppy Hill film earned US$115,006 in 24 theaters during the March 29-31 weekend, the film's third weekend in theaters. The film ranked at #35 during the weekend, and has earned a total of US$279,704.

From Up On Poppy Hill earned US$55,000 on two theaters in its first weekend. The film then earned US$59,693 in six theaters in its second weekend.

GKIDS also updated its list on Tuesday of theaters that will screen the film. The full updated list is as follows:

From Up On Poppy Hill adapts the 1960s shōjo manga of the same name by Tetsurō Sayama and Chizuru Takahashi. The film follows Umi (The Spiderwick Chronicles' Sarah Bolger) and Shun (Star Trek's Anton Yelchin) in a budding romance as they come together to save their school's clubhouse. Hayao Miyazaki wrote the screenplay adaptation. GKIDS will release the film on home video after the theatrical run.
