Yua Kotegawa's Arcana Supernatural Manga Gets Live-Action Film

Yua Kotegawa's Arcana supernatural manga is getting a live-action film adaptation this fall starring Tao Tsuchiya. Tsuchiya previously played Renge in the live-action adaptation of Ouran High School Host Club, and she has also appeared in Ultraman Zero the Movie and Ryōmaden. Arcana will be Tsuchiya's first starring role in a film.
The love horror story takes place in a world where humans and dopplegangers can coexist. Tsuchiya will play the role of both Maki and Satsuki. Maki is a girl who can see and communicate with spirits. Masataka Nakagauchi plays a detective named Murakami who becomes attracted to Maki. Yoshitaka Yamaguchi (assistant director for Yatterman) is directing the film.
The original two-volume manga series ran in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine in 2000-2001.
Before the film opens, a short film titled Arcana Short Movie ~Doppleganger 3D~ starring Tokimi Fukami and Tarō Suwa will air on SKY PerfecTV! and a 2D version will air on BS Sky Perfect on March 24.
