Aniplex USA Licenses 2nd Season of Oreimo TV Anime

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Crunchyroll to stream sequel series starting on April 6

North American anime publisher Aniplex of America announced on Monday that it has licensed the second season of the Ore no Imōto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai. (Oreimo) television anime series. The company will release the series on home video, and will reveal the details for the home video release at a later date. Aniplex also revealed that Crunchyroll will stream the series on Saturdays starting on April 6.

For the second anime season, character designer Hiroyuki Oda is once again adapting Hiro Kanzaki's original novel illustrations, and series script editor Hideyuki Kurata is similarly adapting Tsukasa Fushimi's original light novel series. Hiroyuki Kanbe is returning to the proverbial director's chair — only this time at A-1 Pictures instead of AIC Build.

The sequel anime will adapt the plot of the original light novel series all the way through the final novel volume. The first season (including the series' alternate ending, "TRUE ROUTE") included the story up to the fifth light novel volume, and season two will continue through to the expected 12th volume.

The sequel series will premiere in Japan on April 6.

Aniplex originally released a limited-edition DVD box set for the Oreimo television anime series in October 2011. The company then released a Blu-ray box set of the first season in February. Dark Horse Comics is releasing Sakura Ikeda's manga adaptation in North America.
