Gaming website IGN annonced on Monday that it was sold by its former parent company News Corporation to digital media publisher Ziff Davis. IGN's sister sites UGO, 1UP, and AskMen are part of the acquisition deal.
Ziff Davis was originally founded in 1927 as a hobby magazine publisher in Chicago. The company once owned 1UP before selling it to UGO in 2009. The acquisition of IGN doubles the size of Ziff Davis' parent company, j2 Global. The company already runs tech news website PCMAG.com, and Geek.com, as well as business site Toolbox.com.
