Viz to Publish Max Steel Graphic Novels
posted on by Karen Ressler
Toy company Mattel announced on Monday that it has partnered with Viz Media to create and publish a graphic novel series based on its action figure line Max Steel. The new graphic novel series is scheduled to launch this fall under the Viz Kids imprint.
In an attempt to reach broader, more modern audiences, Mattel has stated that it is focusing on multimedia for this release. The graphic novel will be part of a multifaceted reboot of the franchise that also includes an animated television series, live-action short movie, online content hub, mobile games, and merchandise. The hero, Max, will also be younger, so as to be more relatable to the target demographic.
