One Piece Film Z Sells 5.04 Million Tickets

One Piece Film Z surpassed the 6-billion-yen (about US$68 million) threshold as of January 14, four weeks after it opened in December. In the process, it has sold 5.04 million tickets and surpassed the box office totals of two other 2012 films, Thermae Romae and Bayside Shakedown The Final.
The film will open in Taiwan on January 25, followed by Singapore (February 1), Hong Kong (February 14), Thailand, and South Korea. Toei Animation is licensing the film not only in Asia, but also in Europe, the United States, and other regions.
