posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Kaze, a subsidiary of Viz Media Europe, announced in a press release on Tuesday that it will release a French comic adaptation of DiC and Studio Pierrot's Mysterious Cities of Gold animated television series. Thomas Bouveret (Element R) is drawing the comic with a story based on the original television series' scenario.
The comic is planned to span five volumes with the first slated for release on March 3. The company will also release Scott O'Dell's La Route de L'or (The King's Fifth), the American novel that inspired the original series.
Kaze will release a restored edition of the original television series on Blu-ray Disc on April 3. The first three episodes will screen at The Angoulême International Comics Festival in France at the end of the month. Directors Bernard Deyriès and Jean-Luc François will attend the screening.
France's Blue Spirit Animation is planning three new 26-episode series sequels to Mysterious Cities of Gold. The series premiered on November 17.
