IDC: 77 Million PS3s Shipped vs. 76 Million Xbox 360s

The research film International Data Corporation (IDC) reported on Wednesday that Sony shipped (as opposed to sold) about 77 million PlayStation 3 consoles worldwide as of December. IDC also reported that Microsoft shipped 76 million Xbox 360s as of December, despite launching its console a year earlier.
