Comic Market 83 Attracts 170,000 on Each of 1st 2 Days

The Mainichi Shimbun paper's Mantan Web site reported that 170,000 people attended the first day of the Comic Market 83 event on Saturday. This is roughly 20,000 more than the first-day attendance at Comic Market 81 last winter and 10,000 more than the first-day attendance at Comic Market 82 this past summer. Attendees arrived despite the 5°C (41°F) morning temperature in Tokyo and the forecast of rain (that never came on Saturday). About 11,800 circles reserved tables for self-published items, including those inspired by Gundam, Tiger & Bunny, and other anime and works.
170,000 also attended the second day on Sunday, despite the morning rain and the aftermath of the Kuroko's Basketball threats. 170,000 attended the second day at Comic Market 81 last winter and 190,000 attended the second day of Comic Market 82 this past summer.
