Teen Arrested After Doodling 'Weapons' in Notebook
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
A 16-year-old New Jersey high school student was arrested on December 18 after allegedly drawing what school officials stated "appeared to be weapons" in his notebook. A subsequent search in the boy's home led to his arrest after police found electronic parts and chemicals that they claim could be made into an explosive device.
According to his mother, the student "drew a glove with flames coming out of it." She also stated that the boy enjoys deconstructing and rebuilding things. Regional school district superintendent Steve Ciccariello said, "There was no indication he was making a bomb, or using a bomb or detonating a bomb."
The student was placed in a juvenile detention center after his arrest.
