Chocotan! Shōjo Dog Manga Gets Event Anime With Rie Kugimiya
posted on by Egan Loo
The February 2013 issue of Shueisha's Ribon magazine announced on Friday that an anime adaptation of Kozue Takeuchi's Chocotan! (Chocolate & Tan!) shōjo manga has been green-lit. The Ribon Festa 2013 event will show the anime next spring.
The manga follows a talking female miniature dachshund puppy named Chocotan and Nao, the girl who owns her. The two are close friends, and Chocotan supports Nao as the girl deals with a romantic crush and life in general. Voice actress Rie Kugimiya will play Chocotan.
Takeuchi launched the manga last year, and Shueisha will publish the third compiled book volume in January. The publisher also posted a preview of the manga online.
The next issue of Ribon will publish more details about the Chocotan! anime. The February issue also ran the final chapter of Nana Haruta's Stardust Wink manga. Haruta launched the romantic comedy series in 2008, and Shueisha published the ninth compiled book volume in August. Haruta will next publish a two-chapter manga in the April and May issues.
