On Saturday, the game maker 5pb. (MAGES.) began streaming a promotional video for Corpse Party: Tortured Souls -Bōgyaku Sareta Tamashii no Jukyō-, the original video anime series inspired by its three Corpse Party PSP horror games.
The anime will have four episodes that will arrive next summer on two DVD volumes or in one Blu-ray Box. The anime will also premiere in theaters before then. Voice actress Asami Imai will contribute her "Hoshikuzu no Ring" (Stardust Ring) song as the anime's theme (as heard in the promotional video).
The games already inspired Corpse Party: Missing Footage, the original video anime bundled with the limited-number edition of this year's Corpse Party -The Anthology- Sachiko no Renai Yūgi ♥ Hysteric Birthday 2U spinoff game. Both video anime projects share the same production staff: Akira Iwanaga is directing the project at the studio asread. Seiki Tanaka is serving as the character designer and chief animation director, while Shōichi Satō is writing the scripts.
The original Corpse Party horror game from &TEAM GrisGris followed of a group of high school students trapped in an elementary school, which is haunted by children who disappeared. The new anime begins when Naomi and Seiko wake up in the dimly lit, abandoned school. They have no idea where they are, nor where their other friends who were with them earlier. For unfathomable reasons, they are trapped, unable to escape the despair in this cursed school.
XSEED Games released the PSP version of the original Corpse Party game in North America and Europe.
