No Anime Nominated for Golden Globes

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced on Thursday its list of nominees for the Best Animated Feature category of the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, and the final list contained no anime films. Studio Ghibli and Hiromasa Yonebayashi's The Secret World of Arrietty and Studio Ghibli and Goro Miyazaki's From Up On Poppy Hill had both been a part of the 12-film shortlist for the nomination. The five films that have been nominated are:
- Brave
- Frankenweenie
- Hotel Transylvania
- Rise of the Guardians
- Wreck-it Ralph
The HFPA added a Best Animated Feature category starting with the 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards in 2007. Since then, no anime film has won or been nominated for the award.
The 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be held on January 13.
