Sazae-san's Norisuke Voice Actor Taro Arakawa Passes Away

Tarō Arakawa, the second voice actor for Sazae-san's Norisuke Namino, passed away on Thursday, November 15 due to multiple organ failure. He was 56. He is survived by his wife Atsuko Satō.
Arakawa was born in Tokyo under the name Yasuo Satō. Arakawa began his anime voice acting career in 1977 in Gasshin Sentai Mechander Robo as Dan Gorobee, and in the original Yatterman as Cha Manjū and Nikuman-Mecha.
He continued in his career, voicing a number of background roles in popular series like Dirty Pair, Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ, Magical Princess Minky Momo, Doraemon, Crayon Shin-chan, Wedding Peach, Yū Yū Hakusho and Speed Racer. He played Matsuchiyo-sensei in Nintama Rantaro and lent his voice to several episodic characters in the Detective Conan series. He was also a prolific voice actor for Japanese dubs of overseas works.
Arakawa voiced Norisuke Namino from July 1998 to July 2000, after the late Ichirô Murakoshi stepped down due to health. Yasunori Matsumoto currently voices the role.
